New partnership brings symbol-splitting gameplay to a wider audience, with a focus on mobile performance
ClusterBreaker Finds a New Home at Relax Gaming
Relax Gaming has signed a licensing agreement with Stakelogic to integrate the ClusterBreaker mechanic into its slot offering, extending the feature’s reach across a global network of operator partners. The deal introduces one of Stakelogic’s standout innovations to a broader audience, and positions Relax to deliver a distinct alternative to conventional cluster gameplay.
Launched in December 2024 with the game Fire & Gold ClusterBreaker, the mechanic puts a twist on the traditional cluster pays model. Instead of relying solely on adjacent matching symbols, ClusterBreaker allows symbols to split into smaller pieces—doubling, tripling, or even quadrupling during spins. This significantly increases the potential for winning combinations without expanding the game grid itself.
A Mobile-First Mechanic with Visual Impact
One of the standout aspects of ClusterBreaker is its compact design, which breaks from the oversized grids—often 9×9 or larger—that define typical cluster slots. By reducing the reel layout, the mechanic not only improves visual clarity but also enhances performance on smartphones and tablets. This aligns closely with the industry’s ongoing shift toward mobile-first development, where user experience and screen adaptability are key.
For Relax Gaming, the addition represents a chance to differentiate its content with a gameplay feature that feels fresh but is easy for players to grasp. The mechanic introduces dynamic visual effects without overwhelming complexity, a balance that appeals to both casual and experienced slot players.
Strategic Value for Both Companies
From a business standpoint, the licensing deal gives Relax Gaming a notable edge in content diversity while offering Stakelogic greater distribution for one of its proprietary features. By plugging ClusterBreaker into its aggregation platform, Relax adds an exclusive twist to its portfolio that operator partners can leverage for better player retention.
Stephan van den Oetelaar, CEO of Stakelogic, called the mechanic a “new standard in cluster-based gaming,” praising its balance of simplicity and win potential. He added that teaming up with Relax Gaming allows Stakelogic to bring the feature to new regulated markets and player bases.
Relax Gaming CEO Martin Stålros echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the company’s commitment to innovation. “The ClusterBreaker mechanic is exactly the type of forward-thinking feature we look for—visually dynamic, mobile-optimised, and built to deliver a more engaging slot experience,” he said.
