Sports betting has gone legally online in Indiana following the State’s casinos having started taking game wagers over a month ago.
According to Indiana Gaming Commission officials, Boston-based DraftKings and Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive launched the first mobile sports wagering apps in the state on Thursday, 3rd October 2019. DraftKings has partnered with Indiana’s Ameristar Casino in East Chicago while Rush Street has partnered with the French Lick Resort Casino.
The mobile sportsbook is part of a thriving multi-year deal entered into between Penn National Gaming and DFS provider turned sports betting operator.
According to a recent report, mobile sportsbooks will be the eventual champions of Indiana’s sports betting market with at least two-thirds of the sports bettors in the state using mobile sportsbooks.
In order to utilize the mobile sportsbook, bettors are required to prove that they are 21 years or older. The app will also have geo-fencing technology so as to ensure that only people within the state’s borders are able to access its service.
Matt Kalish, the Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer of DraftKings, commented that with Indiana becoming the latest state to offer legalized online and mobile sports betting, they are excited to provide the top-rated sportsbook app to some of the Nation’s most passionate and dedicated sports fans.
Meanwhile, registrations must be done physically at the respective casino facilities although there are plans to soon allow for online registrations. DraftKings and its competitors are endeavoring to enable their customers to register on their websites and online apps.
