Microgaming has praised a staff-led charitable scheme set up under its corporate social responsibility program PlayItForward that launched two years ago and managed to raise £120,000 in donations since its inception.
Employees and guests are provided with a dedicated space at Microgaming’s headquarters in the Isle of Man to put forward suggestions and vote for the causes which they would like to support from PlayItForward which is now in its sixth year.
John Coleman, Chief Executive Officer of Microgaming, explained that last month marked two years since Microgaming PlayItForward officially launched a dedicated space for employees to nominate and vote for worthy causes close to their hearts, resulting in over £120,000 being donated to charity,
Coleman added that the staff-driven initiative aims to drive employee engagement, encouraging active participation with their CSR program, and giving them the framework to get directly involved in communities worldwide as they continue to do good deeds and implement positive change.
Since officially launching in April 2018, the initiative has attracted more than 7,800 votes and over 55 staff suggestions. Staff voted for 12 charitable initiatives to receive support from PlayItForward last year alone. Charities directly benefiting within the last year include Marown Bowling Club, Victim Support Isle of Man, Greenhills Sanctuary IOM, The Children’s Centre and Huntington’s Disease Association.
Helen Martin, Chairman of Huntington’s Disease Association IOM, said that Microgaming building a website for them will help them reach families affected who do not feel they can attend a support group. She added that Huntington’s is a disease that is very hard to talk about if you are not ready and the information on the site keeps them up to date with what they are doing and how they can help them.
