Blueprint Gaming is heading to Westeros after sealing a licensing agreement to develop online slots based on Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.
A Trip to Westeros Hits Slots in March
UK studio Blueprint Gaming has secured the rights to create a run of online slot titles inspired by Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The agreement, struck with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, gives the Merkur Group-owned supplier access to one of television’s most valuable fantasy franchises.
The first Game of Thrones-branded slot is scheduled for release in March, with additional titles already lined up. Blueprint says each game will draw from the shows’ defining characters, locations and story arcs, alongside the original soundtrack that helped make both series cultural heavyweights.
For operators, that kind of brand recognition tends to translate into strong launch traction. For players, it usually means high production values and familiar faces front and centre on the reels.
What Players Can Expect from the Debut Slot
Blueprint’s opening title will lean on its established money-collect mechanic, supported by base-game modifiers designed to boost engagement between feature rounds. That mechanic has become a staple of the studio’s recent releases, often allowing symbols to gather cash values before triggering a larger payout opportunity.
The free spins feature will take players across Westeros, suggesting a multi-stage bonus or location-based progression system. If Blueprint follows its usual formula, expect expanding features, layered modifiers and the potential for stacked wins during bonus play.
In short, this is unlikely to be a simple logo swap. The studio has built a reputation for wrapping well-known IP around mechanics that already perform strongly in regulated markets.
A Franchise That Fits the Slot Floor
Fantasy themes have long been a comfortable fit for online slots, but Game of Thrones carries weight beyond generic swords-and-dragons imagery. The HBO series built a global fanbase over eight seasons, while House of the Dragon has refreshed interest in the Targaryen dynasty.
That gives Blueprint room to explore multiple storylines, character arcs and factions across several releases. A long-term roadmap also opens the door to distinct mechanical variations between titles, rather than repeating the same structure with new artwork.
For players, that could mean more than one trip to Westeros, each with a slightly different risk profile or feature set.
Strengthening an Already Packed IP Portfolio
Blueprint is no stranger to licensed content. The supplier’s catalogue now exceeds 500 titles across markets including the UK, Malta, Sweden, Germany, Italy and parts of Canada.
Recent partnerships tied to The Goonies and Yogi Bear show the developer’s appetite for recognisable brands. Adding Game of Thrones to that roster places it among the more eye-catching IP holders in the European slot market.
Charlie Jacka, Head of Product at Blueprint Gaming, said working with a franchise of this scale comes with clear expectations. The studio’s focus, he added, has been on preserving the identity of the series while delivering the gameplay mechanics operators rely on.
