Bloomberry Resorts Corporation is preparing to launch a new online gaming platform by late May or early June 2025, strengthening its push into the digital arena as it works to recover ground lost during the decline of Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs).
New Digital Venture Set to Debut
Chairman and CEO Enrique K. Razon Jr. revealed the upcoming launch during Bloomberry’s annual stockholders’ meeting, saying the platform is already operational behind the scenes and undergoing intensive testing.
“We’re on schedule for a full rollout by the end of May or early June,” Razon said, underscoring the company’s focus on expanding its digital footprint to bolster overall revenues.
The forthcoming brand will build on the foundation laid by Solaire Online, Bloomberry’s initial foray into internet gaming, which launched in 2021. This latest offering is designed to compete directly with platforms like BingoPlus, run by DigiPlus Interactive Corporation.
Although occasional discussions about banning online gambling surface in the Philippines, no legislation has advanced to a serious stage, leaving Bloomberry optimistic about the sector’s potential.
Solaire Resort North Shows Steady Progress
Alongside its digital plans, Bloomberry continues to invest heavily in its land-based properties. Solaire Resort North, which welcomed its first guests in May 2024, is showing consistent monthly improvement, though it has not yet reached profitability.
“Each month we see better results,” Razon said. “We’re getting closer to where we want to be, similar to what we experienced with Solaire Entertainment City in its early years.”
Built for around $1 billion, Solaire North has already made an impact, helping drive a 6% increase in gross gaming revenue to PHP61.7 billion in 2024. Still, the company’s overall net income slid 73% to PHP2.6 billion, weighed down by heavy depreciation and financing costs tied to recent developments.
Focused on Growth Across Physical and Digital Markets
Bloomberry’s portfolio now spans Solaire Entertainment City, Solaire Resort North, and the Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino in South Korea, positioning the company to compete aggressively across both land-based and online gaming markets.
“With our premier integrated resorts and new online initiatives, we’re building a diversified and resilient business model that will keep Bloomberry at the forefront of the industry,” Razon said.
Bloomberry has outlined three main priorities for the coming years: revitalizing Solaire Entertainment City’s growth, bringing Solaire North to profitability, and cementing a leading role in the Philippines’ online gaming space.
Razon also pointed to positive economic indicators, citing projections of 6% to 8% annual GDP growth through 2028 and new tourism incentives to boost visitor numbers, including a tax refund program for foreign tourists.
